Chennai, March 23: Tamil Nadu Agricultural Minister Veerapandi S Arumugam was among 262 candidates who filed their papers today on the fourth day of filing nominations for the April 13 assembly polls in the state.
Arumugam, the Salem district DMK secretary, along with his partymen filed their nominations. He will be contesting from Sankagiri.
The highest number of nominations were filed from Tiruppur district, with 42, followed by Tirupur North with 31, a press release from chief Electoral officer Praveen Kumar said.
With this a total of 457 nominations have been filed so far. Of these, 55 were filed on behalf of DMK, 10 on behalf of PMK, eight on behalf of BSP, one each on behalf of Congress and AIADMK, the statement added.
Tamil Nadu along with Kerala and Puducherry goes to the polls on April 13.
