TJAC to set up Delhi unit

Hyderabad, April 06: The leadership of the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) has decided to establish its unit at Delhi to strengthen the on-going Telangana movement.

The unit will also have representation from non-political, social and student unions besides several cultural organisations working in support of Telangana. The unit is likely to be launched at a meeting in Delhi on April 20.

Through the unit, the JAC wants to take up programmes to gain the support of all prominent personalities backing progressive movements across the country.

TJAC chairman professor M Kodandaram presided over a meeting of the TJAC district in-charges held here today where it was also decided to complete the district- level conventions before April 14. The meeting decided to observe BR Ambedkar birthday on April 14 as ‘Smaller States Demands Day’ across the region.

The TJAC leaders would tour the region from April 15 to 30 to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level. Later, the TJAC steering committee would meet and decide on the future course of action.

Speaking to reporters, the TJAC chairman said they would intensify the Telangana movement in the next few days. “We will question the stand of the Congress leadership on the Telangana issue,” he said.

Replying to a question, Kodandaram said they had not yet taken any stand on the YSR Congress Party started by former Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He, however, said the TJAC was firm on its stand on opposing Jagan’s entry into Telangana unless he makes his stand clear on formation of a Telangana state. “Any Congress leader who wants to help the YSR Congress party in the Telangana region should better think twice about their action,” the TJAC leader said.
