TJAC Leaders Held As Naidu Enters Mahbubnagar

Tension prevailed when the Telangana protagonists tried to obstruct the police from arresting Telangana Political JAC leaders here at Shanti Nagar on Monday. The JAC leaders tried to obstruct TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu’s ‘Vasthunna Mee Kosam’ padayatra demanding that the latter make his stand clear on Telangana issue.

The police arrested TPJAC chairman Prof. Kodandaram, and other leaders Swamy Goud and Srinivas Goud.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Kodandaram said that their arrests were very atrocious. He asked the police why they arrested them when the JAC planned to lodge the protest in peaceful manner. “What’s wrong in demanding Chandrababu to make his stand clear on Telangana issue”, he asked. He made it clear that he never said that he would stop Chandrababu’s padayatra, but only lodge a protest.

Earlier, the JAC leaders tried to reach Rajoli village, where Chandrababu’s padayatra entered Telangana region. The police stopped the JAC leaders at Shanti Nagar village. The JAC leaders told the police that they would only lodge a peaceful protest and requested the police to allow them to reach Rajoli village. But the police asked the JAC leaders to lodge their protest at Shanti Nagar only. When the police said they would take 10 JAC leaders to Rajoli, the JAC leaders said they would all go to Rajoli. A verbal war took place between the police and JAC leaders.

At this juncture, the MRPS activists reached the place and raised slogans in support of TDP Chief and against Prof. Kodandaram. The MRPS activists shouted ‘Kodandaram go back’. The police stopped both the JAC leaders and MRPS activists and arrested them.

Telangana Nagara Samithi Chief Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy and several TRS leaders have condemned the arrests of JAC leaders and demanded the police to release them immediately. TNGO Chief Devi Prasad has said that the TDP has to own the responsibility of JAC leaders’ arrest. (NSS)
