TJAC FAULTS POLAVARAM BILL– CALLS T BANDH TODAY

Condemning the Centre’s decision to transfer seven Tribal Mandals to Andhra Pradesh State through passing the AP Reogranization Amendment Bill, Telangana Political JAC today called for a Telangana Bandh.

Speaking to press persons, TJAC Chairman, Prof Kodandaram today said that they are exempting Secunderabad area from the Bandh as it paves way for noted Bonalu, the festival. He expressed serious concern on the move and dubbed it as unconstitutional and undemocratic. He exhorted the employees, people, students and businessmen to cooperate with them for the bandh. Since the Act will only compound the problems of Telangana in general and Khammam in particular, ‘we have to collectively oppose it’, he said. Prof Kodandaram alleged that the Centre has blindly attacked on the rights of the tribals and those of Telangana. The Centre cannot take such a hasty decision to appease someone, he
said. The bill must be withdrawn in the interests of the people, lest the people will take up another round of movement, he warned.(NSS)
