Hyderabad, February 26: Minister for legislative affairs D Sridhar Babu today made it clear that an Assembly resolution on the Telangana issue would be possible only if there is consensus among the members. “We (Congress members) are not ready to make any efforts to take ahead other partys’ (referring to TRS) agenda. The Congress will strive to convert Telangana people’s sentiments into a reality,” he remarked.
Talking to newsmen at the Congress Legislature Party office here, Sridhar Babu along with BC welfare minister B Saraiah and government chief whip M Bhatti Vikramarka said the government had earlier made attempts to bring consensus (on Telangana issue) by having consultations with the parties. Moving a resolution knowing full well that consensus would not emerge among members at this juncture was not correct. “The issue is with the Centre now. The prevailing ‘situation and developments’ in the region are being taken to the Central government’s notice. A solution will definitely come on the issue,” he said.
Replying to a query, Sridhar Babu said it was for the people to judge their ‘commitment’ on the Telangana issue.
