Mumbai, August 03: The trial in the TISS gangrape caseis set to begin on August 11 in a sessions court here.
Six persons, aged between 21 and 27 have been arrestedin April this year for allegedly gangraping a 23-year-old USnational, who was a student of the Tata Institute of SocialSciences (TISS).
The police had in July filed its chargesheet against theaccused before the Kurla metropolitan magistrate.
The magistrate today committed the trial in the caseto the Sewree sessions court. The magistrate court cannotconduct the trial as the charges levelled against the accusedare punishable with more than three years imprisonment.
All the six accused-Dev Colabawala, Jaskaran Singh,Vinamra Soni, Kundanraj Borgonain, Anish Borkhatki andHarshawardhan Yadav- would be produced before the Sewreesessions court on August 11.
According to the police, the accused, the victim and afriend had partied at a club in suburban Deonar where theaccused had allegedly got the victim drunk.
