Tirupati lawyers call off 181-day hunger strike

Tirupati, April 06: The Tirupati Bar Assocation advocates agitating for the High Court bench in Tirupati, withdrew their 181 days’ relay hunger strike following an assurance from Mines and Geology Minister G Arunakumari.

The minister visited the hunger strike camp and assured that she would bring the matter to the notice of the chief minister and would strive to resolve their issue. She served lemonade to the advocates observing the hunger strike outside the court premises.

Speaking on the occasion, the advocate JAC leaders Samanchi Srinivas and others said the strike call off was temporary and they would resume it if the government fails to set up the HC bench in Tirupati without delay.

All-Party leaders including M Venkataramana (Congress), Saikam Jayachandra Reddy (PRP), G Bhanuprakash Reddy (BJP), RC Munikrishna (TDP), Tirupati Bar Association president G Subramanyam and others were present.
