Tirumala, June 11: The hundi in Lord Venkateswara temple here had a record collection of offerings from devotees amounting to Rs 2.11 crore today.
According to temple officials, the alltime record of hundi collection in a single day was Rs 2.83 crore which included the single donation of Rs 1 crore by former BJP leader Uma Bharathi. Today’s collection had no such single major donation.
The pilgrim rush increased significantly this evening and all the 32 compartments of the Vaikuntam Queue Complex were full to the capacity and the queue extended for a distance of 1 km beyond the entrance to the queue complex. Mahalaghu darshan is being allowed and the rush is expected to continue till Sunday.
