Tirupati, April 04: Tirumala has been decked up beautifully for the Telugu New year, which falls on Monday. The hill shrine and its premises have been tastefully decorated with 2.5 tonnes of flowers of various hues, including ixora, crysanthimum, lillies, roses etc. Festoons of mango leaves and banana trunks with leaves were pitched in the ‘pandals’ giving a festive touch to the temple premises.
The entire temple complex was illuminated with electrical lights of various colours, depicting themes of mythological importance, at all junctions on the holy hills.
In view of the Ugadi festival, TTD had suspended all the Arjitha Sevas including Thomala, Archana, Visesha Pooja, Kalyanotsavam, Vasthanthotsavam while the predawn seva, Suprabatha Seva and evening Sahasra Deepalankara Seva will be held as usual.
The TTD will conduct Ugadi Asthanam, near the sanctum sanctorum in the temple, between 7am and 9 am, during which a senior Pandit will render ‘Telugu Panchanga Sravanam’.
On the occasion, TTD will organise Panchanga Sravanam at Asthana Mandapam too, outside the temple, which will be held between 9.30 am and 10.30 am in Tirumala, for which, the devotees are allowed. The programme will be followed by Telugu literary programme ‘Asthavadhanam’ by renowned Avadhani and TTD Annamacharya Project director Medasani Mohan along with seven other experts in the field of Telugu literature.
Cultural programmes will also be held, according to a press release issued by TTD here, today.
