Time now ripe for T-State: Kaka, MSR

Hyderabad, December 07: Congress Working Committee (CWC) member G Venkataswamy today urged AICC president Sonia Gandhi to direct the State Government to introduce a resolution on Telangana in the winter session of the State Legislative Assembly beginning tomorrow.

In a three-page letter to Sonia Gandhi, he urged her to fulfill the aspirations of the pepople of Telangana.

Addressing a press conference here today, he said that it was the right time to grant statehood to Telangana a long-pending wish of the people of the region. He said he would die only in a separate Telangana State.

“For division of any State, a resolution to that effect by the respective State Assembly is a must. The BJP-led NDA government formed three new States after the States passed a resolution,’’ he recalled and advised all MPs and MLAs from the region to go to Delhi and exert pressure on the party high command.

Describing the present movement as more intense than that in 1969, Venkataswamy congratulated TRS chief K Chandrasekhar on carrying on the movement on Gandhian principles and hoped the movement would continue till it attained its goal. He said Chief Minister K Rosaiah was not against the movement or formation of Telangana state.

The senior leader dismissed some reports that he had decided to resign from the Congress. On the other hand, he asserted, he would continue in the party and fight for Telangana.

APSRTC chairman and senior Congress leader M Satyanarayana Rao too felt that the time was ripe to create Telangana State. He urged Sonia Gandhi to invite the TRS president to talks. “Rosaiah and D Srinivas cannot solve the problem as the TRS chief is not ready to listen to anyone else,’’ Rao said.
