With the inputs that certain groups were trying to communal disturbances in the capital city in connection with the anniversary of demolition of disputed structure at Ayodhya, Police Commissioner V.V. Srinivasa Rao issued prohibitory order banning processions, dharnas, rallies including motorcycle rally or public meetings from 6am on December 5 to 6am on December 7.
The Police Commissioner warned that any person violating the order will be prosecuted. However, police officers and personnel on duty, Military personnel, Home Guards and bonafide funeral processions are exempted from the ban order.
In another order effective from 6 am on December 6 to 6 am on December 12, the Police Commissioner prohibited carrying of arms like swords, spears, knives, sticks with or without flags, bludgeons, guns, explosives, and other offensive weapons in the twin cities. He also prohibited use of mikes/public address system by any organisations around the Secretariat, including Burgula Rama Krishna Rao Building, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Building, Commissioner of Fisheries building, Mint Compound, Nizam College and its surroundings, Assembly, Public Garden, Upper Tankbund, I–MAX, Rotary and NTR Marg roads and also fly-over road leading from Secretariat to Visweswarayya statue, Khairatabad.
