THTS condemns bomb blast in Srilanka, mourn deceased Intermediate students

Hyderabad: The Telangana Hijra Transgender Samithi (THTS) today condemned the violence and bomb blast occurred on April 21 in Srilanka and conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the demised. The THTS also pledged its solidarity and offered prayers to 21 Intermediate students, who committed suicide due to faulty Intermediate results. “For both the incidents, we will observe one-minute silence with solidarity.

The State-level Telangana Hijra Transgender Samithi was formed by many transgender activists from across the Telangana State, who worked extensively for the rights of the community. The THTS board was formed by key members like Laila – president; Nagma – vice-president; Chandramukhi – general secretary; Mary – Treasurer; Ranjitha – joint secretary; Priya Murthy – executive member; Nithya – executive member and seven executive members.
The aims and objectives of THTS are: Working towards the establishment of Transgender welfare board at State level by Telangana government; Working for the rights and welfare of transgender people; Working towards implementation of NALSA judgment; organizing advocacy programs for government departments and legal departments; working for welfare of transgenders in terms of Education, Employment and economic development; Establishing old-age homes for transgenders; Establishing district level board for transgenders and working for their welfare; Advocacy about transgenders in educational institutions; Skill development trainings for transgenders and Advocacy programs for general population.
