Mumbai, August 27: The Khar police on Tuesday claimed to have foiled a dacoity by arresting three armed persons. The accused are said to be involved in a murder case in Jamgad police station in Firozepur.
Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Raju Ahmed Ali, 22, Guddu Ali, 19 and Sarafuddin Ali, 25 while they were loitering near the Harsh Jewellers on road no.3 in Khar (West). The police have seized two revolvers, three live cartridges, two choppers, red chilli powder and ropes from the accused.
“Two of the men are involved in a murder in Jamgad. We are further probing their involvement in two other murder cases in Uttar Pradesh,” said deputy commissioner of police, Niket Kaushik.
Guddu and Raju allegedly killed one person named Imaran a month ago due to family feud. After the murder, they fled Firozepur and came to Mumbai. The duo resided at Vasai with Sarafuddin and did odd jobs.
However, they were unable to make good money after which they decided to carry out robberies and thefts. The police are on the lookout for two other men who worked along with the three.
The accused were remanded in police custody till August 29.
