Banda (UP): Three students were killed and 13 others were injured in a collision between a tempo and truck near Triveni village by-pass here this morning after which a mob set a number of vehicles on fire, police said.
The tempo carrying students and other passengers met with the accident killing Ravi (13), Arvind (10) and Ram (11) on the spot.
Out of the 13 injured, seven are students, police said adding that they have been admitted to hospital.
Meanwhile infuriated over the accident, the locals resorted to traffic jam on Banda-Mahoba road and also indulged in arson.
Demanding compensation for the victims and injured, protestors set two trucks and as many tempos besides some roadside kiosks on fire, police said.
The jam continued for about two hours and a large number of policemen have been deployed in the area. The truck has been seized, police said.
City Magistrate R.K Srivastava said that the condition of two injured was serious and they have been referred to kanpur hopital for treatment.
