Three snatchers arrested in Delhi

New Delhi, April 19: Three persons, who allegedly used to snatch chains of women who used to visit temples, were arrested in south Delhi, police said today.

The arrested have been identified as Mukesh (24), Pappu Singh (42) and Jai Singh (52), all hailing from Palwal in Haryana. They were arrested from Outer Ring Road on April 10 on a tip off.

“They used to target the women who used to display their gold chains and also targeted the women who used to visit in the big temples like Kalkaji and Chhatarpur. They have purchased an SUV with the money accumulated by selling snatched gold chains.

“They have admitted of committing more than 100 incidents of chain snatchings and immediately after committing crime they used to flee to Haryana. It is the first time that the members of this gang have been arrested,” H G S Dhaliwal, Additional Commissioner of Police (South), said.

The accused were subjected to Judicial Test Identification Parade and they refused to undergo the same. Later on, they were taken on remand for further investigation.

With these arrest, four cases of snatching have been solved in which recoveries have also been effected.
