On Saturday, in a shocking incident, three siblings met with watery grave when they entered an abandoned quarry pond at Turkapalem village in the city outskirts.
The incident has stunned the villagers as all the three victims belong to a family.
According to reports, the victims are children of quarry worker, Challa Srinivasa Rao. Malleswari, 5, Neelima 9, and Sirisha, 11, entered the pond while playing.
The pond was full of mud and the children could not come out. They breathe their last one after another Nobody in the village noticed them as the pond is away from the residential area.
The incident came to light when some inhabitant youths, who were passing by the road near the pond, sensed the bodies floating on the water. They alerted the villagers and parents of the children before calling the police.
Parents fell unconscious soon after seeing the bodies.
Srinivasa Rao, the victim’s father, a native of Nagarjunasagar area, came to Turakapalem village about 20 years ago and settled down after joining a local quarry as a daily wager. His wife Jyothi also works in a local quarry.
