Three policemen arrested for extortion

Hyderabad: The sleuths of CCS, DD, Hyderabad apprehended three police personnel and a private individual who were indulging in extortion of money from a massage centre.

Kateeb Ahmad, HC 2478 of Begumpet P.S., Bojjagani Venugopal, PC 3991 of Chatrinaka P.S., Banavath Shashi Kumar, Cab driver, and Peri Vijay Babu, PC 5466 of Langerhouz P.S are the accused.

The three accused are working in different Police Stations presently and the fourth is a private person who is an informant and an associate. The brief facts of the case are that on February 12 a complainant R.Raju Occ: business (Luxury Spa) lodged a complaint at CCS, stating that since one month he is running “Luxury Family Saloon & Spa” at Road No.10, Banjara Hills, by obtaining GHMC license. One Surya is working as Manager along with three therapists cum beauticians and one telephone caller at the SPA. On February 8 at about 6 pm the accused barged into his SPA saying that they are police personnel from Task Force and detained the four girls and the Manager in one room and called the complainant who is the owner of the SPA and demanded money from him for not booking a case. After due negotiations Raju paid Rs.1,35,000/- to them. They also took away the DVR of the CCTV Cameras in the SPA for escaping from being detected. A case in Cr.No.26/18 U/s 342, 384 IPC was registered at CCS, Hyd and investigated.
On February 19, the accused were apprehended by the Special Team -1, CCS, and their arrest effected. All the accused confessed of having committed this offense. Seized Rs.95,000/- and DVR from their possession.
