Three Police Commissioners travel in Metro train & inspect security arrangements

Cyberabad Police Commissioner Sandeep Sandilya, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.V. Srinivasa Rao and Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat today travelled on Metro trains from Miyapur to Ameerpet and Ameerpet to Nagole along with the security heads of HMRL and L&TMHRL and thoroughly inspected the security arrangements in the Metro trains, stations and other installations.

The security equipment installed at various locations of the Metro stations, trains and depot areas have been inspected by them. The functioning of baggage scanners, CCTV cameras and other surveillance equipment, the sophisticated safety and security gadgets were also examined. The 360° coverage by the CCTV cameras installed in the trains, platforms, concourse, ticketing areas and the locking mechanism of gates at the end of platforms which prevent intrusion into the viaduct areas and other prohibited areas were examined and analysed. Access control mechanism, Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMD), frisking gadgets i.e., Hand Held Metal Detectors (HHMDs), the positioning of security personnel at various locations of the stations, unobtrusive watching of behavior of passengers at vantage points etc. were discussed in the brain storming session of these senior officers on the basis of security plan prepared for Hyderabad Metro Rail system by security experts headed by K.C. Reddy, who has vast experience in organizing security systems in various fields, counter terrorism and experience in handling United Nations security systems and procedures.

            Simultaneously, training of some 150 police personnel deputed by the three Police Commissionerates as per the orders of DGP M. Mahender Reddy, has been going on in Metro Rail Bhavan for the last three days and the three Police Commissioners have addressed them and motivated them to provide friendly policing and efficient security arrangements at all the 24 stations which are getting commissioned in the next few days.

            The Metro security wing will be systematically built up over the next one year as a well organized unit which includes even armed components like Quick Response Team (QRT), Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), Dog Squad, etc. While Government police assisted by the security personnel hired by HMRL will take care of all the offences, the DGP has decided that Law & Order Police stations of the three City Police Commissionerates having jurisdiction in coordination with the concerned Traffic PS as well as Crime/CCS Teams, Task Force/SOT, Security Personnel/QRTs/CSGs and SHE Teams will provide overall security to all HMR stations falling in their limits for the time-being.(NSS)
