A newly-wed woman committed suicide allegedly due to harassment by her husband and in-laws for more dowry.
According to Chandanagar police, Isha Phani, was married to one Bala Kishore of Chanda Nagar about two months ago. However, Kishore and his relatives were harassing Isha for more dowry for the past few days. Unable to bear the harassment, Isha resorted to the extreme step by hanging to the ceiling on Saturday night. Police have registered a case under Sections 304 B and 394 DP Act and began investigations.
In another case, Neetu Rani, 28, committed suicide by hanging to the ceiling at her residence in Gowliguda on Saturday night. She had an argument with her mother-in-law Saraswati over some domestic issue which consequently led her to the extreme step, Afzalgunj police said.
In a different case, ill-health drove 45-year-old U Bhavayya of Kandukur to suicide. She resorted to the extreme step by hanging to the ceiling at her residence on Saturday night, Kandukur police said. (INN)
