Three more arrested in Akbar Owaisi attack case

Hyderabad, May 14: Three more persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the recent attack on MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi at Chandrayangutta even as a court on Thursday granted a three-day police custody of four of the accused who were earlier arrested by the Central Crime Station (CCS) which is investigating the case.

The CCS sleuths would take custody of the four arrested persons including the main accused Mohd Bin Omer Yafai alias Mohammed Pahelwan for three days from Friday as part of further investigation into the case, CCS deputy commissioner of police J Satyanarayana said.

According to sources, the CCS sleuths filed a petition before the court seeking one week custody of the four accused but the court granted custody for only three days.

Apart from Mohammed Pahelwan, Hussain Bin Omer Yafai alias Hassan Bin Omer Yafai, Yahiya Bin Younus Yafai and Isa Bin Yousuf Yafai would be taken into custody for questioning. Investigators would be questioning the four on how the attack was planned and the role played by them.

Meanwhile, the police today arrested three more persons, Afif Bin Younus Yafai, Saif Bin Mehboob Yafai and Saleh Bin Wahlan, alleged to be involved in the attack.

“The trio were directly involved in the attack. Wahlan even carried an illegal fire arm,” Satyanarayana said.

The others had lethal weapons.

Investigators, however, said that Wahlan did not fire from the weapon on Owaisi.

Police believe that nearly 15 people took part in the attack.

So far, the CCS sleuths have arrested 12 in the case.
