Three men injured after cab driver falls asleep in Mumbai

Mumbai: A car carrying three passengers rammed a barricade at Haji Ali early on Thursday, as the cab driver fell asleep while driving. They were out for Sightseeing in the city.

Computer software engineer Aditya Tawade, his two friends, Pritesh Kandohi, Akash Vishwakarma as well as the driver Mohammed Abdul Rashid Shaikh suffered minor injuries.

However, the vehicle was completely destroyed, reported Hindustan Times. Police arrested Shaikh for rash and negligent driving.

On Wednesday night, the boys went sightseeing at Marine Drive, Nariman Point, the Mahalakshmi Temple and then headed to south Mumbai. At 4 am on Thursday they decided to head back to Mahim and booked a cab.

When the vehicle was near Lala Lajpat Rai College, the driver, who had been speeding, fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle. Shaikh and his passengers were rushed to a nearby hospital.
