Three men attack 22-year-old Manipuri student in Bangalore

A 22-year old student from Manipur suffered head injuries after being attacked by three men here last night.

Samuel, who is currently in a hospital, said he was attacked when the assailants realized that he was different looking.

“I don’t know the attackers but I know they are not from the area. They just teased me when they realized I was different looking. I would say it was racial discrimination,” he told ANI here.

The assault took place when Samuel was on his way home and was teased by three strangers, who started calling him names like ‘Chinese’. Ignoring the men, he moved ahead but they came from behind and attacked him.

“They called me Chinese and used bad language. I just moved ahead and they attacked me from behind. I was attacked where there was dim light. There was a woman who was behind me, she saw the incident from the beginning till the end,” said Samuel.

He said the woman approached the police, who failed to turn up, and then took him to the police station.

“She was trying to stop them but she was really helpless. She approached the police and the police did not turn up and finally she took us to the police station and then from the police station we came to the hospital,” he added.

The attack happened the same day a PhD scholar was found dead in his home in South Delhi. (ANI)
