New Delhi: Following the directions of Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia, the Department of Education has set-up a three-member committee to thoroughly review the existing policy on aided schools in Delhi.
The Delhi Government provides grants-in-aid to 211 aided schools in the national capital, which receive a recurring maintenance grant of 95% of recurring expenses, said a government statement, adding that there is also a provision for non-recurring grants for contingency, rent, equipment, library, etc.
The committee will examine the relevant provisions of Delhi School Education Act & Rules (DSEAR ’73), and conduct an in-depth analysis of the issues involved, in order to recommend long-term solutions in the best interest of students who are the prime stakeholders of any academic institution.
The Committee constitutes of Amit Kaushik, former Director (Elementary Education), Ministry of Human Resource Development, as the chairman. Shashi Kaushal, Special Director (Act-II), Directorate of Education, (Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi)GNCTD, is the member secretary, while, Hemanth Pothula, Education Governance Task Force, Delhi Dialogue Commission is a member of the committee.
The Committee shall take meet a variety of stakeholders “direct and indirect” to seek their inputs, and will submit its recommendations to the government within a period of two months. Concerned citizens and stakeholders may also write directly to the Committee atasrcommittee@gmail.com.
