Three married women murdered in Delhi

New Delhi, September 22: Three married women were murdered in the last twenty hours in different parts of the capital.

In one case, the police arrested the woman’s husband who called in the police after committing the crime. In other two incidents also, the police suspect the involvement of the husband.

Police arrested Sandeep, a daily wager, for stabbing to death his 28-year-old wife Sunita near Nangloi railway station Tuesday afternoon. After murdering her, Sandeep himself called the police to inform about his crime and surrendered before them.

The police said for the past few days Sunita was staying with her parents at their Mubarakpur residence following strained relations with her husband over her alleged illicit relationship.

“Sandeep went to see her and take her back home to Rohtak, but stabbed her with a sharp-edged weapon,” said a police officer.

The couple was married four years ago and has a two-and-half-year-old daughter.

In another incident, a woman died after being allegedly made to consume poison by her husband in Mandawali area of east Delhi.

The victim was identified as Bharti Gupta. The deceased was married to Vikas Gupta 12 years ago and had three children.

The police said one of their children in their statement said their father, who is presently unemployed, made her mother consume poison. She was rushed to the Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital where she succumbed.

The police have detained Vikas Gupta for questioning in the case.

In another incident, a 55-year-old woman identified as Kesar was found murdered in her house in Bara Hindu Rao area. Her body bore strangulation marks and was wrapped in a blanket.

The police said ever since the incident, her husband Hamid Abdul had been missing and was suspected to be behind the killing.

The police said a case had been registered and investigations were underway.
