Prakasam, December 31: At least three labourers were killed and four others suffered grievous injuries in a road accident which occurred at Chandrasekharapuram in Prakasam district early on Thursday morning.
According to Inspector Srinivas Rao, the incident occurred when a tractor in which the labourers were on their way to an agricultural field toppled over and plunged down the steep banks of a lake. Rash and negligent driving on the part of the driver is believed to have been the reason behind the mishap.
Three of the labourers were killed on the spot and four others left with grievous injuries.
Mr Srinivas Rao identified the fatalities as Marasu Savithri (19), Aldra Kamalamma (19) and T Tirupathamma (40). The injured were declared to be out of danger.
Police reached the spot on getting information and shifted the victims to hospital for treatment.
A case has been registered Under Section 304(A) and 337 IPC against the driver who is absconding.
