Three killed as two trucks catch fire after collision

Karimnagar: Drivers of two trucks and a cleaner were charred to death when their vehicles caught fire after colliding head-on at Nerella village, around 50 kms from here this evening, police said.

“Two trucks being driven at high speed and coming from opposite directions, collided head-on and caught fire around 6 PM. Drivers of both the lorries and a cleaner from one of these vehicles were charred to death in the incident,” Sircilla Deputy Superintendent of Police Damera Narsaiah said.

The identity of the deceased could not be established, police said.

“The number of persons travelling in both the lorries was yet to be known,” he said.

The fire brigade team reached the scene and doused the flames, although major portion of the two vehicles was gutted in the blaze by that time.

Further investigation into the incident is on, police added.
