Three killed in southern Thailand attacks

At least three people were killed and 55 others injured in blasts and gun attacks in southern Thailand Saturday night.

At least 13 blasts were reported at around 7 p.m. local time in several localities in Muang district in Thai deep south province of Pattani, Xinhua reported.

Three 7-Eleven outlets, Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) office, an electricity post and a petrol station in the district were hit in the blasts.

The entire district was left in a blackout following the attacks.

Since January 2004, separatist violence has plagued Thailand’s Deep South, including three Muslim, ethnic-Malay dominated southern border provinces — Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat — and four districts of Songkhla.
