Three killed in road mishap

New Delhi: Three youths were killed when a motorcycle they were riding on collided with a mini truck in Rajouri Garden area of west Delhi in the wee hours today.

Nishant (20), Manish (19), and Yogesh (20), had gone on an outing at around 10 pm on a motorcycle. When they reached Ring Road in Uttam Nagar, their bike rammed into the mini truck that was coming from the wrong side, a senior police officer said.

Due to the impact of the collision, the motorcycle was completely damaged while the trio were grievously injured. A PCR van rushed them to a nearby hospital where doctors declared the three as brought dead, he said.

“Eye witnesses said that the youths on the bike were driving rashly at a high speed. Also, none had wore helmets,” said the officer.

All the youngsters were residents of different parts of Rajouri Garden area, and while Manish was doing a private job his other two friends were looking for some job.

The police impounded the mini truck after the accident and arrested its driver, identified as Ishtiaq. A case under relevant Sections of law has been registered at Rajouri Garden police station, he said.

The deceased’s family members have been informed and the bodies sent for autopsy, he added.
