New Delhi, May 18: India’s Natasha Palha came from behind to eliminate Lin Zhu of China 4-6 6-3 6-4 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITF girls’ tournament at the DLTA complex here today.
Other Indians who earned the last-eight berth were wildcard entrant Kyra Shroff and Ratnika Batra.
Palha now faces Shroff in the quarters who showed no mercy against qualifier Adnya Naik to outclass her 6-1 6-1.
Batra earned a hard fought victory against compatriot Sharon Sanchana Paul 6-4 6-4 and awaits the winner of the match between Japan’s Ayaka Okuno and Chinese Zi Yang.
Indian qualifier Shweta Rana lost 6-2 3-6 6-2 to sixth seeded Thailand’s Napatsakorn Sankaew in the opening round.
In the boys’ category, India’s Mansingh Athare defeated fifth seeded compatriot Sai Nakireddy 6-4 6-4, while Vaidik Munshaw outplayed Uzbekistan’s Artem Tarasov 6-4 6-3 to storm into the quarterfinals.
