Three held for murder of TDP leader

Hyderabad, October 22: Three persons suspected to be involved in the killing of a TDP leader in Anantapur town recently, were on Thursday taken into ‘custody’ by the city police from the State Human Rights Commission office where they came to seek protection from the police.

They feared threat from Anantapur police who were investigating the murder case.

TD leader Raghunath Reddy was killed by his rivals in Anantapur town. Police suspected the involvement of three of his rivals, R Madhav Reddy, Nagavardhan Reddy and Niranjan Reddy, and launched a search no nab them.

The trio came to the SHRC office at Nampally on Wednesday and met SHRC chairperson P Peri Reddy who asked the Abids police to keep them in their safe custody.

On Thursday, the SHRC directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to give them adequate security and produce them before a court in Anantapur.

Raghunath Reddy was murdered in Anantapur town on October 11.

The trio are still in the ‘custody’ of the Abids police and they are likely to be shifted to Anantapur on Friday.
