Three held with huge quantity of fake Indian currency

The East Zone team of Hyderabad Police Commissioner’s Task Force apprehended three accused persons near Lalapet Flyover Bridge on Monday and seized Rs 3 lakh fake Indian currency from their possession.

All the three accused – D Srikanth (32), B Mahesh (23) and R Bhaskar Goud (29), are resident of Lalapet of Secunderabad. Two more accused – Krishna of Lalapet and Pintu of West Bengal are absconding. Besides Rs 3 lakh of fake currency in denominations of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500, police also seized three cell phones and two train tickets from their possession.

According to police, the main accused Srikanth was arrested in a murder case along with other associates in 2012. During his detention in Chanchalguda Central Prison he came in contact with one Rikazul of West Bengal who was arrested in a case of fake currency notes. Another person, Shareef, who was arrested in the theft case got closer to Srikanth. After their release on bail, Shareef got in touch with Pintu and involved Srikanth to circulate fake currency which they brought from West Bengal. The currency was to be exchanged in the ratio of 1:2.

Srikanth also involved Mahesh and Bhaskar to bring fake currency from West Bengal on the promise of paying Rs 10,000 for each trip. On credible information, all three accused were arrested by the police.

The arrested accused persons and seized property being handed over to Lalaguda police station for further investigation.
