Three held for diverting PDS rice in Cyberabad

In the ongoing drive against offenders under Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, C.V. Anand, Commissioner of Police, has ordered detention of culprits, who were indulging in unlawful activities like diverting PDS Rice to black market by purchasing, hoarding and selling it at exorbitant prices. They were habitually indulging in purchasing of PDS rice from Fair Price shop keepers, poor ration card holders and selling illegally at higher rates to the business people, earning easy money and causing loss to the government. Therefore, they were detained as per law to prevent them from committing such offences.

According to Cyberabad police, Nalla Nani with many aliases was repeatedly indulging in diversion of subsidized rice to black market in the limits of Vanasthaipuram and Meerpet Police Stations. He also used to procure girls and women from other parts of the State and pushed them into prostitution. His immoral activities posed a threat to the family system and leading to social unrest by spread of diseases like HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea and endangering public health. Despite several cases booked against him, he was continuing his nefarious activities. Therefore, orders under Preventive Detention Act were invoked against the offender.

Another accused K. Pandu Rangaiah alias Pandu, 39, rice supplier, of Dwarakanagar colony, Hasthinapuram under Saroornagar mandal of Ranga Reddy district was involved in five offences of cheating, criminal breach of trust and violation of Section 7 of Essential Commodities Act, 1955 in the limits of Cyberabad & Hyderabad Commissionerates.  One Enshetty Sudarshan, 54, of Tirumal Binni Rice Mill at Cheekatimamidi village under Bommalaramaram mandal of Nalgonda district and native of Ramnagar, Hyderabad was involved in eight offences in the limits of Cyberabad Commissionerate and Nalgonda district.
