Three held for arson at Jama Masjid in Hyderabad

Three persons were today arrested from Bollaram area for allegedly setting on fire a door belonging to Jama Masjid in order to stoke communal tension in the city, police said.

The arrested have been identified as S Madan Mohan, Sunil and Uday all residents of Bollarum. The cops are on look out for Sandeep and Bharat of Nizamabad.The incriminating material i.e. Diesel Can, Burnt Cloth, which were used by the accused in commission of this offence were seized. The remaining accused are at large and efforts are being continued to trace out them by forming special teams.

The Bollarum police received a complaint from Nazeer Khan, President of Jamia Masque Committee, Chintal Bazar stating that some unknown persons set fire to the main door of the Chintal Bazar mosque by pouring Diesel.

According to the DCP North Zone Ch.Srikanth, the main cause of the incident is due to dispute between the two groups on the issue of land beside Jamia Mosque, Chintal Bazar, Bollaram for erecting Electric Transformer. While one group is claiming the land to be Wakf Board property, the other group claiming the land to be of Cantonment Board property.

Recently, as there was communal disturbance in Old City, the accused hatched a plan and burnt the main door of Chintal Bazar Mosque in order to provoke communal tension in the area and to obtain the possession of the said land.
