Three girls among four held in fake currency racket

The Tappa Chabutra Police busted a gang of four persons including three women who were indulged in changing the fake Rs.1000 notes in to original currency.

The accused, Dokka Laxmi Narayana, 42, with the help of his tailoring shop women workers – E Anitha (24), K Saritha (24) and G Harika (22) were trying to change the fake currency into original currency. Police seized Rs. 36,000/- counterfeit currency, Rs. 45,820/- original currency (changed currency), one four wheeler Ford Figo bearing No. AP-9-CJ-03417, one Jupiter bike bearing No. TS 09EA 9861 and four cell phones. The prime accused Srinath Reddy is absconding.

The gang got busted when Tappachabutra DSI B Ravinder, along with his team, was on vehicle checking duty on Friday evening. As a routine check, they stopped a Ford Figo vehicle coming from Tappachabutra T-Junction. During the search, two bags with some fake currency and some original notes in the denomination of 1000 rupees notes were found. During interrogation, Dokka revealed that one Srinath Reddy of Ananthapuram district gave him fake notes of Rs 124,000/- which he planned to exchange by circulating it at small shops at various places. He engaged his tailoring shop staff in the crime by offering a commission. They used to buy small quantity of household articles or food grains using fake notes and used to return the balance original notes to him.

The DCP West Zone has praised Inspector B Ravinder, DSI A Naga Raju and staff for busting the gang and said they would be rewarded. (INN)
