Ahmedabad, February 17:Three members of a family, all women, were killed and as many injured after a Matador rammed their van from behind near a toll plaza on Ahmedabad-Vadodara Express Highway early today.
The accident occurred at around 0630 hrs, when a van, which was going towards Ambaji, a pilgrimage centre, on Ahmedabad-Vadodara Express Highway, had slowed down near a toll plaza on the outskirts of Ahmedabad city to take a turn to enter the city, killing three women of a family on the spot and injuring three others, police said.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital.
The deceased were identified as Bhanuben Shantilal Shah (70), Bhanuben Babubhai Shah (78) and Ashmitaben Shah (50), all residents of Vadodara.
The driver of the Matador fled the scene soon after the accident, they added.
