Three members of a family met with watery grave when the boat in which they were sailing capsized in the Pranahitha river at Kowtala in Adilabad district on Monday.
The deceased were identified as P. Venkatesh, his wife and their three year-old son Raju of Macherial in Adilabad district. The incident took place while the deceased were returning after visiting Chepral temple in Maharashtra. The boat drowned just a few minutes away from the banks. It was suddenly hit by a gale and all the six travelers in it fell into the river. While three of them were rescued, the remaining three drowned.
The Police and Revenue personnel rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations. (NSS)
