Three persons perished as unseasonal rain lashed several parts of Telangana State since Saturday.
According to the officials concerned, the rain disrupted normal life and caused heavy damage to the crops and properties. In Nizamabad district, a woman was killed in a wall collapse while a couple was electrocuted in Warangal town when a live wire snapped due to gale and fell on their house.
A government school building collapsed in Atmakur under Sadashivpet mandal of Naglonda district and damaged 15 computers. However, a tragedy was averted as the building collapsed on Saturday night. Downpour also inundated low-lying areas in Nizamabad, Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam, Medak and Mahbubnagar districts.
Rain accompanied by strong winds uprooted trees, damaged standing crops and disrupted vehicular traffic. Power supply was also affected in some districts, officials said. The State has been receiving rain since Saturday under the impact of low pressure area and the Met Office has forecast more rains over the next two to three days. The unseasonal rainfall has dealt a huge blow to mango farmers. The crop over hundreds of acres in Nalgonda district has been damaged.
Hyderabad and the adjoining Ranga Reddy district are receiving incessant rain since Saturday night. Low-lying areas were inundated. Stagnated rain water and choked drains disrupted vehicular traffic at many places in Hyderabad. Roads in busy areas like Lakdi-ka-pul, Abids, Nampally, Koti, Amberper, Secunderabad, Tarnaka and Uppal were inundated. GHMC workers are attending to the waterlogging problem, the officials said.
