Three die due to floods, Rapti continues to recede

Gorakhpur, August 27: Three more people drowned in Rapti river taking the total toll to six in current flood fury, even as flood situation improved in the district, the official sources said here today. Sources in district flood control room said that an unidentified man drowned in Sadar tehsil area yesterday while two people Jokhan and Baburam were washed away in Aami river in Shajanwa area of the district.

The flood water has receded from 45 villages in Barhalganj and other flood affected areas reducing the number of marooned villages to 40. According to the met office, light to medium rains occurred in and around here since last evening.
