Bangalore, August 12: A three-day India International Coffee Festival (IICF), bringing together the best in the industry, will be held here from October seven to nine.
About 40 exhibitors from the different segments like growers, exporters, equipment makers and dealers, processors, manufacturers comprising all major brands will set up their booth at the Coffee Expo, G V Krishna Rau, Chairman Coffee Board of India, told reporters here today.
The conference is expected to attract over 500 delegates from across the world and will provide an oppotunity for the entrepreneurs to explore the opportunities and start building business relations, he said. Represenatives from Brazil, Germany, Italy, Sweden, US and England will participate.
This year the conference and discussion will focus on issues central to the advancement of the coffee industry and emerging topics like coping with challenges of climate change and changing consumer preferences, mechanisation in coffee, coffee and health and sustainable coffee farming.
“Coffee being a perennial crop with long gestation, there are lot of concerns for those keen in investing as to where the coffee industry is moving in the future and how it will be 10 years from now. The festival will provide an opportunity toe xplore how it would involve”, he said.
A series of workshops have been organised for those interested in venturing into the coffee business and for skill improvements for those in the business. A coffee tour is also also planned through the heartland of coffee for international participants to know more about coffees of India.
