Three children drown in two mishaps in Delhi

New Delhi, January 26: Three children drowned in two separate mishaps in the national capital today.

Two children, identified as Karan (10) and Kajal (6), drowned after they fell into a water-filled ditch at a vacant plot at a village in Dwarka Sector-23 in southwest Delhi, police said.

The incident took place at around 4.30 pm when the two were playing near the ditch, they said. A fire brigade official, however, said the children drowned in a septic tank.

The victims were children of a labourer named Ghanshyam.

The family stays at a shanty at the vacant plot, which was said to be belonging to DDA.

In another incident, 12-year-old Mohammed Imran, a student of class IV, died after he accidentally fell into a water tank while playing cricket at Jamia Nagar area.

The mishap took place at 2 pm, police said.
