Three arrested for robbing cab drivers

New Delhi: Three drivers working with a cab aggregator company, were arrested for allegedly stealing valuables from cars of other cab drivers of the same firm, the police said today.

In the last 15 days, the police were informed of thefts, snatchings and robberies from cab drivers after their vehicles were booked, they said.

It was noticed that accused used to board cabs from Shah Alam Bandh Road and would commit the crimes near Adarsh Nagar, the police said.

A trap was laid and the three accused — Rahul Wadhwa (25), Jatin Oberoi (32) and Bhuvan Sakhuja (24) — were arrested yesterday, they said, adding a paper containing registration numbers of several vehicles was seized from Sakhuja.

He confessed that the list contains details of 17 vehicles from which thefts, snatching and robberies were committed, the police said.

The accused used to keep a track and record of these vehicles because they never wanted to travel in the cab again that had already been targeted, the police said.

One of the accused, Wadhwa, was robbed by another group in a similar manner last year. From that incident he got the idea of making easy money by that way, they said.

The three accused worked with the cab aggregator and were well-aware of how the mobile app worked, the police said.
