Mumbai, August 20: Three persons were arrested with fake currency in the face value of Rs 78,300 from suburban Juhu, police said today. The three, identified as Ajgar Quereshi, Sakeer Siddique and Matloob Quereshi and aged between 35 to 40 years, were nabbed yesterday when they were waiting for their ”client” at a depot in suburban Juhu with the counterfeit notes, they said.
The trio, residents of suburban Malwani here, came to Juhu to circulate 783 notes of Rs 100 denominations, which are very difficult to be identified as fake notes, police said. During the interrogation, the three said they had procured the notes from Uttar Pradesh, police said, adding that their claims were being verified.
The trio were remanded in police custody till September 3 after being produced before a local court.
