Three arrested with 22 kg charas in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, April 12:Three persons have been arrested with 22 kg charas, sourced from Kashmir, by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) here today.

Two persons carrying the contraband were arrested at the Prantij toll check-post in Sabarkantha district, while the person who was supposed to receive the consignment was arrested from Naroda area of the city,” NCB zonal director Ayush Mani Tiwari said.

He said that based on specific information, NCB officials intercepted two persons Ajay Bhuriya Banjara and Mukesh Anand Rao, who were travelling in a luxury bus coming from Jaipur inRajasthan, and seized 22 kg of charas from them.

The duo had gone to Ajmer to collect the contraband andwere coming back from there,” Tiwari said.

Following the duo’s interrogation, the NCB team in a follow up action, arrested one Rajesh Ramnaresh Yadav from near Galaxy Cinema in Naroda area of the city. Yadav was to receive the contraband from Banjara and Rao.

It has been revealed that the source of contraband is Kashmir Valley,” Tiwari said, adding that the trio have beenbooked under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) and further investigation in the matter is on.
