Mumbai, September 03: A builder’s office in an under construction building was robbed today at gunpoint but police arrested three suspected aides of gangster Ravi Pujari within hours and recovered cash and valuables stolen by them.
Acting on a tip-off that the members of Pujari gang would pass from Western Express Highway in a vehicle, police laid a trap at Meghwadi area in suburban Jogeshwari and intercepted a Maruti car, police said.
The accused Ashok Choudhary (27), Robin Harijan (24) and Tarbez Alam Ansari (45) were arrested while two of their associates managed to escape from the scene, Deputy Police Commissioner K M M Prasanna said.
“During the preliminary interrogation, the accused said they committed a robbery at a builder’s office in Matunga area and were escaping in the stolen Maruti car when they were intercepted,” he added.
