Threatening the witness and influencing the case through threats on facebook

Bengaluru: Srinivas, an undertrial in a different crime, has used facebook to threaten the witness of a case.

According to the news reported in Deccan Herald, Srinivas alias Kitti has sent threatening messages to Vijaya Kumar, Son of Marahanumaiah (48) who was murdered on June 27, 2016, near Kengeri.

Marahanumaiah was the vice president KPCC (SC/ST cell) in Bengaluru.

The accused in the killing of Marahanumaiah are Kiran alias Tamate, Sunil alias Cylinder, Chethan and Praveen alias Subbu, all of whom are lodged in prison.

Srinivas threatened Mr. Kumar not to give witness statement in the court. He has sent a friend request to Mr. Kumar on his facebook account, and after adding the request, Srinivas had sent series of threatening voice messages.

Srinivas said that Sunil, one of the accused in Marahanumaiah’s murder, is his brother-in-law.

Police had confirmed that the messages had been sent from the facebook account of Srinivas, but they told that they need to verify whether it’s being operated by someone from outside the prison.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kumar sought police protection to himself and his family and also requested the police to take action against Srinivas.
