Threatened professor touches ABVP students’ feet, video goes viral

Mandsaur: In a disturbing act, a professor touched feet of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) students after the latter called him anti-national and asked him to apologize for asking them to stop raising ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ slogans outside the classroom.

The incident took place at Government Rajeev Gandhi Post Graduate College in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur, the students were raising slogans like ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ while marching inside college premises.

A video of the incident has gone viral.

Professor Dinesh Gupta appealed to them not to create noises by shouting slogans as it was becoming difficult for him to give a lecture to the students.

Accusing the professor of preventing them from raising patriotic slogans like’Vande Mataram’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, the student leaders allegedly called him “anti-national” and even reportedly threatened to file FIR against him.

Upset by the allegations leveled against him, Gupta started touching feet of the activists one by one and apologized.

“Dr. Gupta is a senior professor, who has written 10-15 books. He is a heart and blood pressure patient, and such an incident shouldn’t have happened,” college’s principal Dr. Ravindra Kumar Sohoni was quoted saying in a report published in The New Indian Express.

After the video of his act went viral, the professor has gone on leave.
