Hyderabad: Thousands of women from 31 districts of Telangana converged at the Lal Bahadur stadium here today to participate in the ‘Bathukamma’ festivities organised by the Telangana government.
State Legislative Council Chairman Swami Goud appreciated the women of Telangana for their efforts to bring the traditional ‘Bathukamma’ (a floral festival) into limelight.
In a similar way, he said, women should make collective efforts towards the development of the state.
He appreciated the role of TRS MP K Kavita to get special recognition for the festival.
Kavita, daughter of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, thanked the government for organising the festival on a grand scale, a state government release said.
The floral festival is celebrated with women tastefully decorating flowers and singing traditional songs.
