Panipat: Thousands of masajid are illegally occupied in Panipat and Sonipat, Rohtak and Hisar, Jhanjar, Hansi, Kaithal, Karnal and Ambala in Haryana. People are residing in many of the masajid. On record, more than 100 masajid are said to be occupied.
Maulana Abdul Basit spokesman of Anjuman Awqaf told that occupants have started vandalizing 2 masajid of Panipat. Though the complaint was lodged in the police station no action has been taken against them by the police. Maulana told that recently enforcement of Public Premises Act on Waqf properties was being talked of. But no action is taken under the Act as well.
