Hyderabad, January 06 (INN): Former MP Thota Gopala Krishna passed away here on Thursday. He was 65.
Gopala Krishna was first admitted at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences for by-pass surgery after he suffered a heart attack last week in Kakinada. He was later shifted to Care Hospital in the city where he died on Thursday while undergoing treatment.
Thota Gopala Krishna was survived by wife, one son and a daughter.
Gopala Krishna was elected twice as MP from Kakinada Lok Sabha seat on TDP ticket in 1984 and 1987. However, last he joined the Congress party and was elected from Peddapuram assembly segment of East Godavari district in 2004 election. However, he lost the elections in 2009 and later joined the YSR Congress party. He was elevated to the post of party’s vice-president.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and leaders of other political parties including Jagan Mohan Reddy condoled his death.
The last rites of Gopala Krishna are likely to be performed in East Godavari district on Friday. (INN)
