Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday defended Samjhauta blast accused Sadhvi Pragya and colonel Purohit, saying that they should not be held guilty without any trial or investigation.
Speaking at the annual Dusshera celebrations in Shivaji Park here, the Shiv Sena chief also lashed out at those, demanding his party to be labelled as a terrorist organisation.
“Those who demand that Shiv Sena should be held as a terrorist organisation, where were they when Owaisi asked for about 15 minutes to kill all Hindus???….Blame is being regionally biased .. But Shiv Sena took a stand during Sikh riots, Kashmir exodus and many other incidents,” he said.
“In 1984, President Gyani Jail Singh personally met Bala Saheb Thackeray and thanked him when Sikhs were saved in Mumbai by Shiv Sena and no one was harmed. President Jail Singh met Bala Saheb in Mumbai’s Raj Bhavan at that time,” he added.
He also justified the ink attack on Sudheendra Kulkarni and Sena’s protest against organising Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali’s concert, which eventually led to its cancellation. (ANI)
